My Autumn Style

Hello my dear friends

The enchanting season of Fall is fully upon us! However, in Katy, Texas, Fall weather means experiencing  interchangeable temperatures throughout the day. For instance, one moment you will be enjoying the characteristic  crisp, coolness of autumn and within a few hours the temperatures will be soaring, making it reminiscent of warm summer days. So style wise  it is  necessary to  dress in a way that can appropriately  withstand these weather changes.

The best way to achieve this  is to wear pieces that can be easily layered . Hence, I found that the green midi dress I wore for this blog post perfectly  fitted that criteria.  Because its streamlined silhouette and polyester elastane fabric means that  it can be effortlessly  layered with either  a jacket or blazer for those times  when it gets a bit chilly and  the outerwear can be readily taken off when the temperature rises.

What I really love and appreciate about this ensemble is its  versatility. The not overly snug fit, midi length  and  timeless polka dots print means that I have  a lot of leeway to restyle and re wear this dress in a variety of ways. For instance,  this dress can be transformed into the perfect brunch outfit by simply styling it  with wedges or heels and accessorized  with a woven straw purse. Whereas , if I layer a knotted t-shirt or cropped sweater over the dress and pair it with white sneakers , my attire will instantly have that chic, easy going street style effect. Therefore, it is  always  fun and economical  to have  pieces  in your wardrobe that can be revamped into many creative and stylish outfits.

In this case,  I was going for a somewhat vintage aesthetic. So I decidedly added detailed pearl hair clips to my hair and I wore a pair of white block heel shoes.  Even the rattan material purse I carried,  perfectly complemented the classic semblance of the outfit.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post.   Thank you for stopping by and  reading.

Pairing Contrasting Patterns.

Hello my loves and welcome back to my blog.  This personal style outfit post  will be on how I put together my ensemble by wearing two contrasting patterns.

To me,  style is something that is very personal. What a person wears and how they wear it,  is generally a reflection of their mood, personality, the image they want to convey and the trends that inspires them. Hence, I truly believe that fashion gives us the  creative freedom and opportunity to display our unique styles and  to be artists in our daily lives.

In view of this,  I found that the fashion trend of  wearing  contrasting prints and patterns together  is one of those styles that encourages creative ingenuity.   Therefore, it is no surprise that this fad  is a favorite amongst fashionistas and street style influencers because it is a sure fire way of rocking some  rather eye catching and spectacular ensembles.

Consequently,  seeing I am not one to shy away from trying a fun fashion trend,  I mixed my patterns by readily pairing my polka dot jumpsuit with a long sleeve, midi length floral kimono. In light thereof, I found that these two contrasting patterns worked well together since the black and white polka dots acted as a neutral backdrop against the floral accent.

A key to successfully mixing contrasting prints and patterns is to allow them to complement each other. This can be done  by adding an accent print or pattern to accentuate the other more prominent print or pattern. Additionally, it is important  to combine color palettes that  will work  well together for a more cohesive and balanced look.

In relation to accessories, I purposely kept it at a minimum because I wanted my attire to be the focal point. Nevertheless, had I chosen to add any appurtenances to my outfit I would have played on the canvas of contrasting patterns. For instance, had I  wanted a glitzy and glamorous vibe I would have adorned gold toned jewelry and a satin clutch. Whereas, if I was leaning towards  a more casual chic and easy going appearance, I would have accessorized by utilizing  the raffia/straw trend.

In light thereof, this trend of pairing contrasting prints and patterns together is a fun and fresh way to add life  to your  already existing  wardrobe. I really hope you all will give this trend a try.

Thank you for stopping by and reading.

Plaid is the New Neutral

Hello my dear ones! Can you believe that we are already in the month of November?! This means that the festive and joyous  seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas are soon upon us. It is also at this time our fashion choices tend to reflect the lively mood and  cheerful feeling of the seasons by incorporating  more glitz and glamour to our outfits. However, without taking away from the tried and true customary seasonal dressing, there is one fashion trend that is gaining popularity and  will definitely be part of every fashionistas  fall/winter holiday outfits. And that fashion trend is, plaid.

Plaid has always been in vogue but thanks to the iconic 90’s movie, Clueless,  its status as a fashion wardrobe prerequisite has been forever solidified.   Whenever  I see plaid,  the adjectives that usually comes to mind are polished and  classic sophistication.  However, in recent times this timeless trend has been given a modern revival to be more inclusive, by providing bold colours and various silhouettes therefore making plaid a fun and versatile styling piece.

I also love that plaid serves as the perfect transitional piece.  For instance , with just a switch to more jazzy accessories like a pair of statement earrings or an ornate clutch purse you can take your plaid outfit  from a day at the office to a night out in town. Indeed,  with  the growing popularity of this fashion staple and the numerous ways it can be styled,  it may be fair to consider plaid as a  fashion neutral .

Feeling inspired by  fashionistas  bold and creative  street styles showcased during the various Fashion Week  I decided to express my personal style by pairing a sheer polka dots blouse with my plaid pants. I love how the contrasting prints and textures complemented each other to create a rather modish and chic ensemble.

Additionally ,  I also appreciate the fact that since  the blouse and the pants are separates,  these individual pieces  can be re worn and styled in a variety of ways.  For example, the high waisted and wide leg silhouette of the pants,  which gives off major vintage and retro vibes,  can  be styled either with a crop top or a body suit. Whilst the sheer polka dots blouse will add that sweet feminine touch to any outfit. Since the mixing of the contrasting prints created a statement outfit, I decided to keep my accessories at a minimum. So I completed my look by layering two necklaces which added a hint of elegance.

This concludes my blog post on this outfit, I really hope you all enjoyed reading it.

Lots of love,

Salisha
