Fall adventures

Hello my darlings!!

I hope everyone is doing great. It has been a while since I blogged and I missed you all. So today I will remedy that by blogging about an outfit that I recently wore  on my visit  to the North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck.

Since I am  still relatively new to living in North Dakota, after having migrated from the picturesque Caribbean island of  Trinidad, I believe that  one of the best ways to help integrate myself into my new surroundings is by  trying to learn and understand the state culture,  its history, its environment, its festivals and celebrations. As such, I have been  on a quest visiting some of North Dakota places of interest such as the picture-perfect Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot, the  charming Historic District in Downtown Fargo and the breathtaking  scenic canyons in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park .

In light thereof and  in furtherance of me getting more acquainted with my new hometown I paid a recent visit to the North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck. While I wander through the sprawling grounds admiring some of the majestic buildings for its timeless and classic architectural designs  and  being in awe of the twelve foot bronze statue of Sakakawea, my husband photographed me wearing some of this year trends in terms of style, fabric and color.

The  faux suede blush pink dress  paired  with a chambray shirt was my attempt of achieving  the trending effortlessly chic look .  The chambray shirt  not only gave the outfit that further touch of cool casual vibe but also added that essential fall layering.  Yet,  despite the visual chicness of the outfit  the main characteristic was on how comfortable this outfit  was, which made it the ideal outfit as I explored  the extensive grounds of the North Dakota State Capitol.  What made the dress comfortable was the slight stretch of the fabric, the softness of the faux suede and the length of the dress.

Further, given the dress silhouette and its short length  I felt that the outfit will be perfectly balanced  by pairing it with tall fall boots. An added bonus is that the suede fabric of the dress and tall fall boots gave the outfit a touch of bohemian flair.   Whereas the muted hues of the outfit such as the blush pink of the dress and the grey color of the boots  gave the outfit that soft feminine characteristic.   To further enhance the look of the outfit I accessorized with a bold red scarf which  added a pop of color  against the lighter colors.

And that my dear sweethearts completes this blog post on what I wore on one of my adventures.  Hope you all enjoyed this post.

Love,

Salisha

Sweater Weather

Hello again my dearest sweethearts,

My post today will be on one of fall’s favorite wardrobe staples, the iconic sweater.

With the variety of  colors, types and silhouettes available it is no surprise  that the sweater has survived the dynamics of the fashion industry with its ever changing fashion trends. Sweaters continued appeal and popularity can perhaps be attributed to its versatility in respect to style and comfort.  It can be paired with denim pants for a cool casual look, pulled over a collared shirt for a preppy classy look or even worn over a dress for a relaxed feminine look.

In my case I styled my sweater by wearing it over a pink mesh shadow paneled dress. I went a step further and  added a touch of glamour to my outfit by  layering with a heavily beaded pearl peter pan collar top which I wore beneath my dress. In respect to my sweater, the graphic markings and the images on it keep the look fresh, fun and current. And to complete and compliment my outfit I accessorized  with my neutral coloured cross body bag and wide brimmed hat.

And that my lovelies concludes this post. Hope you all enjoy and stay tune for more blog posts!

Lots of love,

Salisha.

Fall Hues Fashion

Hello my darlings,

I hope everyone is doing great and thank you for visiting my blog. I pray that you have enjoyed all the blog posts thus far. Your support really do mean a lot to me.

My blog post today will be on how I styled my  fall outfit by incorporating some of the rich earthy colors normally  associated with autumn.

As we delve further into autumn, I can’t help but be mesmerized and inspired by the beauty of  the changing landscape.  It is purely magical as the foliage and vegetation turn into kaleidoscopic vibrant reds, bright yellows and  golden browns with varying shades of orange thereby creating a most spectacular environment. I therefore decided it was fitting to pay homage to these environmental changes by incorporating some of the rich earthy hues of autumn in my outfit.

I paired one of fall staples, my black  turtleneck top with a  suede brown mini skirt. The turtleneck , the suede fabric and silhouette of the skirt is a nod towards the 70’s trend whilst the black and brown colors are part of incorporating the colours of fall into the outfit. But perhaps the best way of adding touches of fall hues to any fall outfit is through the use of accessories.

In this case, I styled my outfit by accessorizing with two of fall wardrobe essentials, a fedora hat and a scarf.  The burgundy color of the fedora hat and the grey muted colors of the scarf stayed within the trend of paying tribute to fall hues. I also found that the plaid pattern on the scarf added that pop of chicness to the outfit.  To complete my look  I accessorized with another colour that subtly says autumn without any risk of  over powering the outfit, a  mustard brown color cross body bag.

And that my darlings concludes how I styled my  fall outfit by incorporating some of the earthy colors associated with the season of autumn. I do hope you enjoyed this blog and until next time….

xoxo,

Salisha

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Hi sweeties,

Happy Thursday! And  I hope everyone is having a positively wonderful week thus far. Pretty soon the weekend will be upon us and although I appreciate everyday of the week, I am sure most of you all will agree when I say there is a feeling of extra love towards the weekend.

While making plans for this weekend I keep reminiscing on my adventures of last weekend. I  had visited a pumpkin patch for the first time, The Berry Acres Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Minot, North Dakota, and it was nothing short of magical. The charming and idyllic setting coupled with the joyous mood of everyone around felt like I was in a scene from a holiday Hallmark movie. This was therefore the perfect place to capture and highlight the essence of  my outfit.

Since I believe the key to achieving the ideal  fall outfit can be attained by layering pieces, I wore a mini sleeveless mustard color sheet dress over a peter pan collar blouse. I felt that the sheer  sleeves and the pussy bow on the blouse paired against the straight cut silhouette of the sheet dress created a chic outfit with a Parisian flair. As a matter of fact, I noticed that sheer sleeves were having a major fashion moment in the recently concluded Paris Fashion Week. So this is a fashion trend we may see more of in the upcoming months.

What I love and appreciate the most about this outfit is its versatility.  The pieces can be worn either as separates or mixed and matched to create a perfect one of a kind outfit.

To complete my look and to ensure that I remain warm in the crisp cool autumn air I wore black leggings.  I felt that the black leggings  served to add to  the overall look of the outfit by giving it a preppy edge. In respect to accessories , I decided to bring my outfit together by wearing  a  wide brimmed grey color hat. By doing this the focus will remain on the outfit.

And that my darlings concludes my pumpkin patch outfit post. Hope you lovelies like this post and talk to you soon….

xoxo

Salisha

Vintage Crochet Lace

Hi Sweethearts!

My post today will be on how I styled my lace crochet skirt.

Prior to buying this skirt, my knowledge on crochet was limited to the crochet doilies I saw being used as table mats or some sort of home décor.  So I was pretty surprised when I saw this crochet skirt. However, my amazement quickly diminished as I had instantaneously fallen in love with the crochet lace details on the skirt.  The beauty and appeal of the crochet lace is that it appears vintage and timeless which is further enhanced by the camel tone lining thereby creating what I deem an ultra feminine and  romantic skirt.

So I thought this was the perfect piece to wear when my husband and I returned to one of the places  I hold dear to my heart , The River Walk at The Woodlands Waterway, Houston, Texas, because it was there he  proposed to me.

To complete my outfit, I wanted the crochet lace to be the focal point so I decided to pair it with a  knitted, high neck top. I  felt that the blush color and the soft jersey material of the top  added the perfect balance to the net fabric of the crochet lace . To further enhance my outfit  I decided to wear a delicate floral necklace. And that my darlings is how I styled my lace crochet skirt.

I hope you enjoy this post. Until next time….

xoxo,

Salisha
