Flowing into Summer

Hello Friends! I hope everyone is doing well.

Although , the season of  summer officially  starts on  June 21st 2017, it feels like the magic of summer has made an early arrival attributed by the  longer hours of daylight,  warm temperatures and  vibrant green landscapes decorated by a kaleidoscopic myriad of  flowers.  The perfect weather and the picturesque  summer terrain  therefore provides that opportune time to  take a break from the monotony  of every day life and go on adventures.   As such, bitten by the wanderlust bug I recently went exploring Downtown Bismarck.

Even though I have been to Bismarck on numerous occasions , this was my first visit to Downtown Bismarck Historic District where I discovered quaint restaurants, chic boutiques and monumental historical buildings. However, for me,  the most impressive part of this trip was when I stumbled upon the Bismarck Alley  Art which is an alley  with its walls painted  with some of the most extraordinary and captivating works of art depicting and paying tribute to the state of North Dakota.  These spectacular murals not only provided the perfect backdrop to take photos but they added an additional  sense of character and beauty to  the area.

For this outing, I wore an outfit that says effortless summer chic with a touch of glamour. The light weight material of the shirt makes it the perfect  breathable  piece for warm  summer days.  However, the major feature lies on the fact that  the high and low silhouette transformed  the look of this classic stripe shirt into a somewhat whimsical statement piece. This is buttressed by how the bottom part of the shirt seemed to adopt a life of its own when it flowed gracefully as the wind hits it.

In terms to proportion, I balanced the voluminous base of the shirt by pairing it with  black leggings. My choice of footwear was nude pumps.  These shoes added an understated element of sophistication while simultaneously allowing the shirt to remain the focal feature of this outfit.  In respect to accessories, I completed my look by accessorizing with an on trend embroidered denim clutch, the color of which complemented the outfit.

This concludes this blog post. I hope you all enjoy it and as always, thank you for reading.

Lots of Love,

Spring in my step..

Hello my sweet friends. Lately I have been spending more time outdoors especially in parks relishing and enjoying the beautiful spring weather. For me it feels a bit therapeutic and soul healing as I  wander around the verdant landscape under the clear bright blue skies and radiant sunshine while being captivated by the sights and sounds of the environment  springing back to life  after the harsh Midwestern winter.

On that note, on a recent trip to Cottonwood Park in Bismarck, I wore a spring inspired outfit. The bold floral prints of my skirt and its kaleidoscope of colors make it the ideal spring fashion piece. The A- line silhouette  and tea length of the skirt is reminiscent of the fashion of the 1950’s however its versatility in terms of how it can be styled makes it pertinent in the present day.  For instance,  the skirt can be paired with  comfortable flat foot wear for a casual day time look or with high heels for that night time sophisticated appearance. In my case, I went for the former look by wearing a pair of polka dots ballet flats which made it the ideal footwear for a day out in the park. The polka dots on the ballet flats  also provided  the perfect accent against the intricate floral patterns.

To provide balance and symmetry to the outfit, I wore a classic black turtleneck sweater which I accessorized by utilizing the jewelry trend of layering necklaces.  For the first layer of jewelry I opted for a short length chucky floral statement piece and I complimented it with a longer delicate on trend tassel necklace. The compilation of the different lengths and types of necklaces elevated the look of  the outfit by adding a dash of vogue chic vibe.

This therefore concludes this outfit post on what I wore on my day out in Cottonwood Park. Thank you all very much for reading.

Much Love,

Salisha
