Fall Hues Inspiration

Hello loves!  I hope everyone is well.

With the season of Autumn  in full swing,  the characteristic  fall  hues of  rich earthy browns, intense rusty reds and incandescent yellows has inspired my  outfit for this blog  post. As such, I wore a simple classic striped red and white sweater which is an essential wardrobe staple because it can be worn in every season and be styled in a multitude of ways. Then, for that quintessential layered fall look I draped a light weight blush pink jacket over my sweater .  While I appreciated the functionality of the jacket which provided that extra layer for warmth it was the aesthetics that appealed to me the most. I loved how the texture and structure of this jacket fitted snugly against the sweater thereby providing a more streamlined silhouette.

For that pop of vibrant color, I wore an on trend yellow accordion pleated skirt. In terms to the colour, I felt that the yellow  added a touch of summery warmth and whimsical lightness to my otherwise  characteristic fall ensemble. In fact,  we will be seeing more of this lively colour  in the coming year since the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report has identified it as one of the top 12 color palettes for 2018.

To boot, this ultra feminine midi pleated skirt  is a perfect versatile piece. It can be worn with a blouse and  stilettoes for a more ladylike approach or paired with a graphic tee and  sneakers for that cool casual chic look. In my case, I utilized the skirt to create my fall attire. I then completed my outfit with a pair of  suede burgundy ankle boots.  Recent times has seen  a revival  and increase in the  popularity  of this pliable fabric  which is being used in a slew of fashion pieces. From my perspective, I felt that the use of the suede material in my boots  added a subtle  touch  of sosphication to the overall semblance of my fall outfit.

This thereby concludes this blog post. I really hope you all liked this post. Thank you for reading.

Fall Magic

Hello my dearest lovelies! I pray all is well with everyone.

I recently returned to Minot, North Dakota, after spending almost a month in Trinidad visiting my family and friends. Upon my return it was clear that the enchanting season of Autumn is in full effect as  I was greeted by crisp  cool air and a  landscape ablaze with varying hues of yellow, brown, crimson and rust coloured foliage and falling leaves carpeting the ground.  Consequently, Fall is perhaps the most picturesque season of all. In conjunction with the mesmeric fall colours,   the drop in the temperature,  the availability of seasonal favorites such as warm apple cider and pumpkin spice everything, along with the awareness that we are getting closer to the holidays this season feels absolutely magical.

As for the fashion, the chilly weather makes it imperative to dress in such a way that guarantees being warm and cozy. This is usually achieved by layering pieces of clothing. Therefore, as part of my fall outfit I wore a pair of black tights over thermal pants. In addition to its  functional purpose of ensuring  that I was kept warm , I found that the  aesthetic of the black tights complemented the plaid pattern sheath dress thereby giving my outfit  a vintage classic appearance.  The polished feel of the ensemble was further accentuated by the single swarm applique sewn onto the dress. In fact,  it was this subtle detail  that made me fall in love with the dress because the swarm applique added character and dimension to the attire.

Accessories are the best way to spruce up any outfit. As such, I accessorized by wearing a  dark brown cloche hat with flowers detailing and draped the neckline of my dress with a bold red scarf.  The cloche hat which is reminiscent of women fashion of the 1920’s added a touch of chic sophistication whilst the incorporation of the red scarf further  elevated the poise appearance of the outfit by adding a burst of color.  To complete the look of my outfit, I wore my favorite fall ankle boots.

Accordingly, this concludes this blog post. Thank you for reading.

Midsummer Florals

Hello again my dearest friends. Can you believe that we are already in the month of August?! This year is definitely flying by. Summer is coming to an end and the gradual cooler temperatures is an indication that fall is just around  the corner. As such, I am savoring the remaining warm bright summer days.

On one of those days I visited the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot, North Dakota, and I wore a maxi dress which I consider to be the quintessential  summer dress.  Its light weight material and sheer long sleeves ensured that I remained cool and comfortable  as I wandered through the pictorial verdant landscape  in the summer heat. The flowy and billowing facets of the skirt part of the dress not only glamourized the ensemble but  guaranteed a great deal of movement.

What I also adore about this dress  is the floral print which is the pattern iconic of summer and fall. Therefore, with the appropriate layering when the temperature gets cooler this versatile dress can be transitioned into a chic fall outfit. But in this present case I was delighted at how the floral fabric appeared to blend with the breathtaking  lush vibrant seasonal blooms planted in the park which I felt  further enhanced the  fun and romantic feel of the dress.  Furthermore, to ensure my maxi summer dress remained the center piece I decided to keep my accessories at a minimal, thereby only wearing a pair of neutral color tassel earrings and a wide brim hat.

In light thereof,  I hope you all enjoy this outfit post and thank you for reading.

Summer in the city

Hello my dearest lovelies! I hope everyone is doing fine.

On the blog today I will post on one of my favorite summertime dresses that I wore on a recent visit to the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Minneapolis, in the state of Minnesota. But first I must pay homage to this wonderful and culturally diverse city which has successfully harmonized metropolitan vibes  alongside a multitude of surrounding picturesque parks, gardens and lakes. In light thereof, Minneapolis is definitely a city after my own heart.

During my visit, I spent a lot of time outdoors exploring the city and savoring the beauty and allurement of being in a bustling municipality.   Therefore, dressing for comfort without sacrificing style was a prerequisite.  Hence, on one of the days, I wore a short black and white lace dress which has sufficient stretch thereby making it an ideal outfit for walking around the city comfortably. Furthermore,  the length of this dress and its light breathable material  makes this ensemble perfect for the warm summer days. Yet, admittedly my favorite feature of this attire is the intricate lace details which romanticized  the outfit by giving it an element of sweet feminine charm.  Playing on the whimsical aspect of the outfit and adding a touch of Parisian chicness , I accessorized by wearing a black straw hat with a gold chain feature.

In terms of footwear, I wore a pair of white block heels shoes, which not only complemented  the monochrome look of my  attire but provided comfort and ease as I wandered around the city. Although, I donned this outfit  for a causal day time look, the dress  is a versatile piece so making it perfect to be worn for a night out on the town.

This concludes my blog post. I hope you all enjoy this post and thank you for reading.

Lots of love,

Salisha.

Turning 32

Hello again my sweet friends! Tomorrow (June 29th)  is my 32nd birthday!!!

As I reflect on the past year of  my life and formulate new dreams, hopes and wishes I have become mindful of  the fact that life does not always go according to a plan. Therefore,  in the spirit of John Lennon’s famous saying, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” ,  my focus is on being more mindful of living in the present moment and  fully embracing whatever life has in store for me.  Nevertheless, my one unwavering constant is the love and support from my positive tribe of loved ones consisting of my  husband, family and friends. Therefore, the older I get, the more appreciative I am for all the wonderful people in my life.

In face of the adage, “With age comes wisdom” , with each passing year I have established  that life is a beautiful  journey meant to be experienced fearlessly. So far I have learnt that life gave me lessons meant for character building, that happiness and an optimistic outlook is a choice, that love and laughter is what makes life truly magical and that faith, prayers and gratitude are integral to my well being. So as I embark on my 32nd journey around the sun I pray for continued love, friendship,  guidance and magic sprinkled with a touch of style and panache.

To celebrate my 32nd birthday I decided to wear a dress which reminds me somewhat of the timeless black and white dress Grace Kelly wore in the 1950’s movie, Rear Window. I chose this dress because i fell in love with its lady like silhouette characterized by its tea length and  the slight fullness of the below part of the dress.  Also the fact that it is black and white makes it a classic timeless piece.

Although, at first glance the dress may look like it can only to be worn for special occasions, i think it has versatility in terms of how it  can be styled thereby making it applicable  for everyday wear.  The embroidered floral details along the hemline is modern and  on trend. Therefore, to give the outfit that casual chicness with the focus being on the skirt part of the dress, it can be  paired with a fitted denim jacket or an unbuttoned chambray shirt tied into a knot at the waist. To add to that informal easy going appearance the outfit can be paired with wedges, lace ballet flats and even white tennis shoes.  However in this case I chose nude pumps as part of the glam sophisticated look I was going for.

I hope you all enjoy this blog post and thank you for reading.

Lot of love,

Salisha
