Mellow Yellow

Hi lovelies! I hope everyone is doing well. It has been a long time  since I did a personal style blog post. So today,  I will break this lull by blogging  about one of  my  favorite  current fashion trends, the rising popularity  of the happiest color: yellow .  Colors are usually associated with certain imagery and meaning. For instance, the color yellow depicts images of sunshine, liveliness, joy and happiness. It is therefore apparent as to why this color is well liked. 

The fashion world is no stranger to having a favorite color of the moment and for spring/summer 2019 that color is,  yellow and all of its spectacular chromatic variations. Indeed, at a glance of the fashion community you will notice that fashionistas and style influencers have whole heartedly embraced  this cheerful hue. This is made obvious by the impressive array of yellow clothing and accessories such as;   bold yellow power suits, neon yellow tops,   saffron yellow dresses and pops of dreamy yellow jewelry. 

Being in love with this trending sunshine color palette,  I wore a mustard yellow, off the shoulder midi length dress. I found this dress  to be the quintessential summer dress  because the mustard hue complemented the bright bold colors of summer.  While the lightweight cotton material and delicate eyelet embroidery details gives it an easy breezy feel  making it ideal for those warm summer days.

Playing on that relaxed casual vibe, I accessorized with summer favorite  accoutrements, a straw bolero hat and a wicker basket purse. I even wore a pair of flat leather sandals to enhance and complete this daytime summer look. 

The best part about this dress is that,  it is a versatile wardrobe piece. For instance, on those  occasions I may want  a  more polished semblance , I can easily transform this dress into an evening wear by simply wearing  strappy heels, a clutch purse and a pair of statement earrings.  Even when the temperature gets cooler I can transition the dress into a Autumn outfit by layering with either a sweater or a leather jacket and tie the outfit together with a pair of ankle booties.

Midsummer Florals

Hello again my dearest friends. Can you believe that we are already in the month of August?! This year is definitely flying by. Summer is coming to an end and the gradual cooler temperatures is an indication that fall is just around  the corner. As such, I am savoring the remaining warm bright summer days. 

On one of those days I visited the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot, North Dakota, and I wore a maxi dress which I consider to be the quintessential  summer dress.  Its light weight material and sheer long sleeves ensured that I remained cool and comfortable  as I wandered through the pictorial verdant landscape  in the summer heat. The flowy and billowing facets of the skirt part of the dress not only glamourized the ensemble but  guaranteed a great deal of movement. 

 What I also adore about this dress  is the floral print which is the pattern iconic of summer and fall. Therefore, with the appropriate layering when the temperature gets cooler this versatile dress can be transitioned into a chic fall outfit. But in this present case I was delighted at how the floral fabric appeared to blend with the breathtaking  lush vibrant seasonal blooms planted in the park which I felt  further enhanced the  fun and romantic feel of the dress.  Furthermore, to ensure my maxi summer dress remained the center piece I decided to keep my accessories at a minimal, thereby only wearing a pair of neutral color tassel earrings and a wide brim hat.

Summer in the city

Hello my dearest lovelies! I hope everyone is doing fine.

On the blog today I will post on one of my favorite summertime dresses that I wore on a recent visit to the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Minneapolis, in the state of Minnesota. But first I must pay homage to this wonderful and culturally diverse city which has successfully harmonized metropolitan vibes  alongside a multitude of surrounding picturesque parks, gardens and lakes. In light thereof, Minneapolis is definitely a city after my own heart.

During my visit, I spent a lot of time outdoors exploring the city and savoring the beauty and allurement of being in a bustling municipality.   Therefore, dressing for comfort without sacrificing style was a prerequisite.  Hence, on one of the days, I wore a short black and white lace dress which has sufficient stretch thereby making it an ideal outfit for walking around the city comfortably. Furthermore,  the length of this dress and its light breathable material  makes this ensemble perfect for the warm summer days. Yet, admittedly my favorite feature of this attire is the intricate lace details which romanticized  the outfit by giving it an element of sweet feminine charm.  Playing on the whimsical aspect of the outfit and adding a touch of Parisian chicness , I accessorized by wearing a black straw hat with a gold chain feature.

In terms of footwear, I wore a pair of white block heels shoes, which not only complemented  the monochrome look of my  attire but provided comfort and ease as I wandered around the city. Although, I donned this outfit  for a causal day time look, the dress  is a versatile piece so making it perfect to be worn for a night out on the town.

Flowing into Summer

Hello Friends! I hope everyone is doing well.  

Although , the season of  summer officially  starts on  June 21st 2017, it feels like the magic of summer has made an early arrival attributed by the  longer hours of daylight,  warm temperatures and  vibrant green landscapes decorated by a kaleidoscopic myriad of  flowers.  The perfect weather and the picturesque  summer terrain  therefore provides that opportune time to  take a break from the monotony  of every day life and go on adventures.   As such, bitten by the wanderlust bug I recently went exploring Downtown Bismarck.

Even though I have been to Bismarck on numerous occasions , this was my first visit to Downtown Bismarck Historic District where I discovered quaint restaurants, chic boutiques and monumental historical buildings. However, for me,  the most impressive part of this trip was when I stumbled upon the Bismarck Alley  Art which is an alley  with its walls painted  with some of the most extraordinary and captivating works of art depicting and paying tribute to the state of North Dakota.  These spectacular murals not only provided the perfect backdrop to take photos but they added an additional  sense of character and beauty to  the area.

For this outing, I wore an outfit that says effortless summer chic with a touch of glamour. The light weight material of the shirt makes it the perfect  breathable  piece for warm  summer days.  However, the major feature lies on the fact that  the high and low silhouette transformed  the look of this classic stripe shirt into a somewhat whimsical statement piece. This is buttressed by how the bottom part of the shirt seemed to adopt a life of its own when it flowed gracefully as the wind hits it.  

In terms to proportion, I balanced the voluminous base of the shirt by pairing it with  black leggings. My choice of footwear was nude pumps.  These shoes added an understated element of sophistication while simultaneously allowing the shirt to remain the focal feature of this outfit.  In respect to accessories, I completed my look by accessorizing with an on trend embroidered denim clutch, the color of which complemented the outfit.
