Pairing Contrasting Patterns.

Hello my loves and welcome back to my blog.  This personal style outfit post  will be on how I put together my ensemble by wearing two contrasting patterns.

To me,  style is something that is very personal. What a person wears and how they wear it,  is generally a reflection of their mood, personality, the image they want to convey and the trends that inspires them. Hence, I truly believe that fashion gives us the  creative freedom and opportunity to display our unique styles and  to be artists in our daily lives.

In view of this,  I found that the fashion trend of  wearing  contrasting prints and patterns together  is one of those styles that encourages creative ingenuity.   Therefore, it is no surprise that this fad  is a favorite amongst fashionistas and street style influencers because it is a sure fire way of rocking some  rather eye catching and spectacular ensembles.

Consequently,  seeing I am not one to shy away from trying a fun fashion trend,  I mixed my patterns by readily pairing my polka dot jumpsuit with a long sleeve, midi length floral kimono. In light thereof, I found that these two contrasting patterns worked well together since the black and white polka dots acted as a neutral backdrop against the floral accent.

A key to successfully mixing contrasting prints and patterns is to allow them to complement each other. This can be done  by adding an accent print or pattern to accentuate the other more prominent print or pattern. Additionally, it is important  to combine color palettes that  will work  well together for a more cohesive and balanced look.

In relation to accessories, I purposely kept it at a minimum because I wanted my attire to be the focal point. Nevertheless, had I chosen to add any appurtenances to my outfit I would have played on the canvas of contrasting patterns. For instance, had I  wanted a glitzy and glamorous vibe I would have adorned gold toned jewelry and a satin clutch. Whereas, if I was leaning towards  a more casual chic and easy going appearance, I would have accessorized by utilizing  the raffia/straw trend.

In light thereof, this trend of pairing contrasting prints and patterns together is a fun and fresh way to add life  to your  already existing  wardrobe. I really hope you all will give this trend a try.

Thank you for stopping by and reading.

Love,

Salisha

  1. This is certainly an unusual combination of patterns. I would never have thought that they would work so well together. I also love your shoes, which provides a bold contrast. Well done, you!
