The Art of Winter

Hello again my dearest lovelies.

It’s the height of winter in Minot, North Dakota, where on most days the temperatures are  below zero degrees Celsius. Therefore  my fashion choices during this time is revolved around being warm  and comfortable.  To guarantee this I would usually  layer my clothing pieces  ensuring my winter outfits are both functional and fashionable. Besides its necessity during the winter months,  another advantage of layering that I love is its versatility by allowing me to use separate pieces to create unique outfits reflective  of my personal sense of style.  Layering can also be cost effective because the use of wardrobe staples such as the classic denim jeans pants guarantees wear in every season throughout the year.

Therefore on my visit to the North Dakota Heritage Center and Museum in Bismarck I wore an outfit that I put together by layering separate pieces for a casual chic look.  For a streamlined silhouette  against the bulky winter layers  I wore black leggings over body hugging thermal pants  supplemented by my calf high boots. The orange cable knit sweater added that pop of colour  and brightness to the otherwise muted colours of my winter outfit.  To bring the outfit together I added another layer with an on trend black and white blanket cardigan.

Furthermore, since the use of accessories are one of the best ways in ensuring that winter outfits  are kept fresh and updated I wholeheartedly embraced this trend by incorporating several accessories into my outfit.  I accessorized by draping a grey scarf over my   beaded tassel necklace and wore a knit winter headband which also doubled as an ear warmer. To completed my look I held a floral print clutch which provided a bright fun contrast against the cold winter surroundings.

And this concludes my blog post on my approached on the art of winter layering. Thank you so very much for reading.

Much Love,

Salisha

  1. Agree with Tam! The headband especially gives this outfit a very retro feel, which is so in vogue these days! And I love your boots! 😃😃😃

  2. I love the headband! It’s also functional as it keeps the hair off of your face, which could be cumbersome when wearing lots of layers and have handicapped fingers because of thick gloves. I also like the warmth that the orange sweater adds to the ensemble 🙂
