Fashion in a Winter Wonderland

Happy Holidays my dearest lovelies!

I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the Christmas season.  For me Christmas time can simply be described as euphoric. It is one of the most magical and wonderful time of the year because there is a greater sense of togetherness, goodwill and cheer characterized by the extra effort people usually make to show their love and appreciation for each other, family and friends.

This year I will be spending Christmas in wintery Minot, North Dakota. Despite the sub zero temperatures, a picture perfect winter wonderland has been created by  the snow covered landscape and snow draped evergreens which is reminiscent of  those quaint winter romantic settings  as seen in Christmas holiday movies.

Therefore, to ensure that I am able to enjoy the winter season my sense of style during this time will be focused on dressing to ensure that I am both warm and stylish at the same time. To remain warm I usually layer my clothes, for instance, in this case I wore a sweater over a peter pan collar blouse with a pussy bow for that added chic look. However, since it is winter time I went a step further and  wore an extra layer by wearing thermal leggings as my first layer beneath all of my clothes. Thermal or insulated  clothing is  guaranteed to be one of the best ways to ensure being warm during the cold winter season.

Winter fashion however is mainly characterized by outerwear such as coats, hats, scarves and gloves. It is therefore important to invest in some quality pieces to ensure that you are not only protected against the harsh winter conditions but guaranteed versatility in terms of being long lasting and timeless.

With that being said, for my stroll in winter wonderland I wore a  classic double breasted camel toned trench coat which I purchased from Coach.  The gorgeous neutral color of the coat makes it a wardrobe essential  because it guarantees me flexibility in terms of styling. For example, in this case I  wanted the coat to be the focus of my outfit so I buttoned it over my sweater and trouser and  cinched my waist with the adjustable belt for a more refined ladylike silhouette. For that element of vintage sophistication I accessorized by wearing a dark brown flower felt cloche hat which gave the outfit that touch of old Hollywood glamour from circa the 1940s.

The dark brown of the cloche hat also brought balance and harmony to the outfit since it contrasted perfectly against the neutral tone of the camel coat. In adhering to the neutral color palette, I completed my look by wearing a pair of grey gloves with bows sewn on them which provided a bit of sweet charm to the look of the entire outfit.

I hope you lovelies enjoy this blog post and pictures. Until next time stay sweet and safe….

  1. Great choices for the cold winter weather, Sal! It does look like you’re keeping warm, yet being your usual stylish self!! πŸ‘πŸ½β„πŸ’›

  2. Sal I absolutely love this coat. It’s so elegant and classy. Very modern and chic look I must say. It can be paired with almost any outfit both in winter and fall. It’s gorgeous there in minot with the snow.
